The University Club of Portland Board of Directors has elected Deidra Montgomery as President for the 2026 term, continuing the Club’s tradition of thoughtful leadership and community stewardship in the heart of downtown Portland. Montgomery’s election marks only the second time in the Club’s 129 year history that a woman has been chosen to lead the Board.
Montgomery, CEO of Red Canoe Credit Union, with extensive experience in financial services and cooperative governance, steps into the role following her service as Vice President of the Club’s Board. As President, she will guide governance priorities, strategic initiatives, and member engagement efforts while serving as an ambassador for the Club’s mission to foster meaningful personal and professional connections across the Portland metro area.
“It is a profound honor to serve the University Club of Portland,” Montgomery said. “The Club’s legacy of bringing people together across business, culture, and community life remains deeply relevant. In a time when authentic connection matters more than ever, this organization continues to provide a place where relationships are built, ideas are exchanged, and leadership is cultivated.”
Montgomery’s election reflects the Club’s ongoing commitment to inclusive leadership and forward momentum. Rooted in a historic clubhouse and more than a century of tradition, the University Club continues to evolve as a welcoming home base for professionals, entrepreneurs, creatives, and neighbors who care about the vitality of downtown and the strength of the broader Portland community.
In addition to Montgomery’s election, the Board announced that Anna C. Friedhoff, a Portland family law attorney and current Vice President of the Board, will be next in line for the presidency in 2027. Friedhoff, a shareholder at SKH Family Law & Estate Planning, will continue to play a central role in governance and member engagement.
