"You meet people while attending events, but you get to know them while serving on a committee," says Member Jim Reinhart. "A number of people I have met while on committees are now my friends."
UC Committees:
Develops ideas for and plans large Club social events such as the Holiday Formal, Supper Club, Boxing Night, and other exciting activities. Chair: Tom Smith, Board Liaison: Andrew Frazier.
Keeps the Club on a sound financial course, develops our annual budget, and reviews the annual audit. Chair: Tracy Stoppelmoor & Board Liaison: Grant Jones.
Assists in selection of wine, beer, and spirits - based on Club events, such as Robert Burns Night, Entertaining With Champagne, and Wine Workshop events. Chair: Jessica Mozeico-Blair and Board Liaison: Elizabeth Schleuning.
A separate, non-profit organization affiliated with the UC that awards annual scholarships to graduate students from five Oregon universities and funds historic preservation work. Chair: Mary Markley, Board Liaison: Jon Folkestad.
Makes decisions about Club maintenance and décor. Handles complaints, requests, and suggestions about Members, Staff, and facilities. Chair & Board Liaison: Ravi Vedanayagam.
Women's Activities Committee:
Selects the decorations and theme for each Holiday Season. Decorates the entire Clubhouse, with the exception of the giant Christmas tree in the Main Dining Room. Plans all the details of the Ladies' Holiday Luncheon. Organizes and participates in other University Club events. Co-Chairs: Jamie Strohecker & Teresa Hostmann
Reviews book purchases for the Library, sponsors and organizes Annual Authors' Night, and manages reciprocal clubs. Chair: James Reinhart, Board Liaison: Anthony Reser.
Identifies all opportunities to maintain and expand the long-term success of the University Club. Chair & Board Liaison: Mike McCaslin.
Approves or denies nominations, resignations, and changes in status requests. Monitors Membership numbers and plans/oversees Membership drives and new Member activities. Chair: Greg Leo, Board Liaison: Richard Horswell.
UC Women's Events:
Plans Monthly Luncheons for all UC women, their guests, and potential new Members. Also plans Cocktail Dinner Parties with After Dinner Speakers six times per year, and some additional off-property events such as wine country tours, special museum exhibits, and other cultural events. Co-Chairs: Priscilla Morehouse, Gail Pemble and Wendy Usher. |
