"You meet people while attending events, but you get to know them while serving on a committee," says Member Jim Reinhart. "A number of people I have met while on committees are now my friends."
UC Committees:
Entertainment:
Develops ideas for and plans large Club social events such as the Holiday Formal, Supper Club, Smoker/Boxing Night, and other exciting activities. Co-Chairs: Diane Burns and Charles Deaver, Board Liaison: Brad Bleything.
Finance:
Keeps the Club on a sound financial course, develops our annual budget, and reviews the annual audit. Chair and Board Liaison: Kurt Hutton.
Assists in selection of wine, beer, and spirits - based on Club events, such as Robert Burns Night, Entertaining With Champagne, and Wine Workshop events. Co-Chairs: Elizabeth Schleuning and James Reinhart, Board Liaison: Anthony Reser.
A separate, non-profit organization affiliated with the UC that awards annual scholarships to graduate students from five Oregon universities and funds historic preservation work. Chair: Steve Lewis, Board Liaison: Jim Titus.
House:
Makes decisions about Club maintenance and décor. Handles complaints, requests, and suggestions about Members, Staff, and facilities. Chair and Board Liaison: Christopher Thoming.
Ladies' Core:
Selects the decorations and theme for each Holiday Season. Decorates the entire Clubhouse, with the exception of the giant Christmas tree in the Main Dining Room. Plans all the details of the Ladies' Holiday Luncheon and Gift Fair. Organizes and participates in other University Club events. Chair: Tron Stadelman.
Reviews book purchases for the Library, sponsors and organizes Annual Authors' Night, and manages reciprocal clubs. Chair: James Reinhart, Board Liaison: Gail Pemble.
Long-Range Planning:
Identifies all opportunities to maintain and expand the long-term success of the University Club. Chair and Board Liaison: Lewis A. McArthur.
Approves or denies nominations, resignations, and changes in status requests. Monitors Membership numbers and plans/oversees Membership drives and new Member activities. Chair: Victoria Trabosh, Board Liaison: Jon Folkestad.
UC Women's Events:
Plans Monthly Luncheons for all UC women, their guests, and potential new Members. Also plans Cocktail Dinner Parties with After Dinner Speakers six times per year, and some additional off-property events such as wine country tours, special museum exhibits, and other cultural events.
